Fire/EMS Training

The City’s Fire/EMS Training bureau is responsible for providing professional educational opportunities to all its Fire/EMS employees. This bureau ensures that Fire/EMS courses are developed and delivered on a monthly basis to meet National and State certification requirements, mandates and practices. These courses are: designed to maintain the highest knowledge and skill levels; tailored to meet individual needs, abilities and career goals; presented in a safe, effective and challenging environment; taught by expert trainers using cutting edge technology; staffed by a Battalion Chief designated as Training/Safety Officer; evaluated regularly to reflect service delivery and hiring practices.

These courses include:
• EMT-B, EMT-I and EMT-P
• Rope, Confined Space and Ice/Water Rescues
• Wilderness/Lost Person Search and Auto Extrication
• Hazardous Materials, Infection Control, Technical Rescue and WMD
