Council Responsibilities


The City of Trotwood’s legislative branch is composed of an elected Mayor and six Council Members, with two elected at-large and four from specific City districts. All seven Council Members have an equal vote and serve four-year terms. City Council’s many responsibilities include:
• upholding the City of Trotwood Charter and State of Ohio Laws
• ensuring the health, safety, interest and good of Trotwood’s citizens
• providing Trotwood the best government possible
• setting and overseeing City policy
• adopting official ordinances and resolutions
• approving major expenditures of public funds
• establishing the City’s service program as determined by its annual operating budget
