02.27.09- Mayor Delivers State of the City

With his theme ‘State of Change’, Trotwood Mayor Darreyl D. Davis delivered a strong message during the City’s 2009 State of the City Address. City, school, business and community leaders came together to share his vision at this Trotwood Chamber of Commerce event held in the former MotoPhoto building on February 26th.

The Mayor invited U.S. Senator Brown’s Regional Representative, Angela Blackburn to give the federal perspective on that theme.  Wade Rakes, senior staff to Governor Strickland provided the State’s, and Commissioner Dan Foley supplied Montgomery County’s.

Said Mayor Davis, “Trotwood must transition from an economy based on retail and traditional manufacturing to such industries as: knowledge based information technology; transportation; alternative energy; education; logistics and distribution; advanced manufacturing; health care; and medical services. My vision is that we have to attract these kinds of high value jobs first to evolve as a vibrant 21st century city. These jobs will attract all other consumer amenities the community needs such as restaurants, retail and entertainment.”
