10.20.08- Attend Foreclosure Workshop
(Trotwood, Ohio, Monday, October 20, 2008) – The Community Reinvestment Institute Alumni Association (CRIAA) and the City will host ‘Save The Dream: Helping homeowners stay in their homes and avoid foreclosure’, a State of Ohio Foreclosure Prevention Program. This free workshop to assist homeowners in Trotwood and the surrounding area to keep their homes will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the Trotwood Community Center, 4000 Lake Center Drive. The economy has contributed to the increase in foreclosures due to major plant closings and dislocated workers in the automotive, manufacturing, transportation, education, professional service and defense industry.
The number of home foreclosure cases filed in the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts comprised 49% of all filings in 2007. Many of these cases could have been prevented if homeowners had knowledge of possible workout plans available and had worked with their lender/servicer, as soon as they realized they were unable to make their monthly mortgage payment.
CRIAA has assembled mortgage companies and servicers to do one-on-one counseling sessions with homeowners to help them stay in their home.
The CRIAA staff is committed to making a difference and empowering homeowners. “We can’t let those that have so worked hard to become homeowners lose hope. CRIAA and lenders/servicers are committed to working with homeowners and to explore every option available to preserve their home.”
The City of Trotwood and CRIAA are very excited about the collaborative and states, “It’s these types of joint efforts which help stabilize our communities.”
David T. Dewberry, CRIAA Vice President states, “It’s vital that homeowners know that have options to keep their homes even if they are facing foreclosure, have an adjustable rate mortgage and or are months behind on their mortgage payments.
This service is free and Paid for by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency. The Community Reinvestment Institute Alumni Association, may be able to help you stay in your home. For more assistance please call (937) 449-1610.
