Council Profiles
Councilwoman Mary A. McDonald, Ward 4Mary McDonald is currently serving the City of Trotwood as a first term Council Member for the City’s Fourth Ward. She is married to Joseph T. McDonald and they have two children. Daughter Alexandra Caldwell is a student at the University of Dayton and son Daniel Caldwell is serving in the United States Army. She has resided in the city for 19 years.
Mrs. McDonald is owner of The True Style Hair Salon and is a Licensed Vocational Education Instructor. She has been a consultant for many major cosmetic companies and has used her experience to help Cancer survivors regain confidence during their times of crisis.
An avid patron of the arts, Mrs. McDonald has been an executive board member with the Dayton Playhouse Inc., and worked to raise funds for many non-profit organizations. She has served as a youth leader in the United Methodist Church, and is carrying on a family tradition of serving others with a strong commitment to selfless giving.
Councilwoman McDonald and her husband established The Pearline Wood's Scholarship, designed to financially assist freshmen college student needs. Together they have devoted their time and talents to support the Trotwood community by creating The Concerned Citizens of Trotwood, which has sponsored many family centered recreational activities.
She has created such activities as the free Trotwood Concerts in John Wolfe Park as well as the Trotwood Cake and Rib Contest. She also created Trotwood's Mother and Father of the year contest, and is especially proud to have established Trotwood's Official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held at the Olde Town Depot. Her goals include encouraging fellow citizens to become actively involved in community service.
