 Income Tax
The City’s Income Tax Support Services Division wants to remind everyone that Individual income tax returns are due on or before April 15th.
Staff is happy to help residents prepare their Tax Returns at no charge, with no appointment necessary prior to March 31st. In addition to its normal Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. operating hours, for everyone’s convenience this year the office will be also open until 6:30 p.m. on:
• Thursday, April 10th
• Friday, April 11th
• Monday, April 14th
• Tuesday April 15th
Tax returns can be filed at or mailed to the Trotwood Income Tax Support Services Division, 4 Strader Drive, Trotwood, OH 45426. Tax forms can also be picked up from the office (stop by or call 937 837-3415) or downloaded from the list on the right, where other important income tax information can also be found.
Income tax return filings are required of:
• all residents (regardless of income)
• businesses (including nonresident businesses/self-employed individuals who work in Trotwood)
• owners of rental property
• any other person required to file and pay the municipal tax as determined by the Income Tax Ordinance
The Tax Support Services Divisionadministers the 2.25% tax on earnings and net profits from residents, nonresident employees and businesses to help finance its operations. This tax is also a major source of financing for City operations. The Income Tax Division is responsible for:
• assisting taxpayers with income tax matters including filing and/or preparation of income tax returns, making payments and resolving delinquency issues
• providing necessary reporting forms and information
• administering the Income Tax Ordinance fairly and equitably
• establishing programs (including court action) to ensure compliance
• enforcing compliance to ensure that taxpayers are paying their tax obligations to provide for public services
