Feature on Development

Industrial

Phoenix Tube: this high-tech manufacturer produces steel tubing used in automotive exhausts, bicycle frames, fence posts and more. It recently took over the former PMG building at 5800 Wolf Creek Pike, next door to Trotwood Commerce Park. The company expects to create 25 jobs in its first year and another 25 jobs within 24-36 months. Recently the City obtained a $150,000 Montgomery County ED/GE grant for them to renovate and rehab the existing building. .

Syncreon: this first-tier GM parts distribution center represents a $32.5 million public/private investment in Trotwood. Since opening it now employs nearly 200 people and is still expanding its operations in Trotwood Commerce Park. .

Commercial/Retail

TechConnection: in partnership with EMTEC and Essman Consulting, the City is developing a technology business cluster park on the former Salem Mall site named TechConnection. Its partners are targeting Advanced Energy Storage companies and their supply chain partners as potential tenants. The City is currently competing for a $750,000 State of Ohio Job Ready Sites grant to fund installation of the major roadway there.

Taste Restaurant: this family-owned fine dining establishment opened in September 2011 in a former Applebee’s located at 2555 Shiloh Springs Road that it fully renovated. Taste employs 20 to 25 people and seats 160. Its cuisine features gourmet Soul Food, Cajun and Creole and it offers live jazz, blues and R&B on weekends.

Community

Main Street Trotwood Corridor: in 2010 the City installed decorative, historic-style light poles and benches here. In 2011 it created new signage for three shopping areas, including those located at 504-506 and 729 E. Main and the Broadmoor Plaza, which also received major façade improvements. On behalf of Trotwood SAY Soccer the City is constructing a concession building at 701 E. Main, which should be completed in early 2012, when more streetscape upgrades including more decorative lighting and new streetscape banners will begin.  .

Housing

Moss Creek Golf Course Community: this upscale community built around the very popular Chi Chi Rodriguez signature course has beautiful existing homes and room for new construction. A photo of it was used in the August 30, 2011 msn.com list of the nation’s 10 Most Affordable Housing Markets (based on Coldwell Banker's latest ‘Home Listing Report’), where Trotwood came in #9.

Olde Town Trotwood: the charming, historic backbone of Trotwood promises great deals on housing stock dating back to the mid-1800s when the community was first founded. The area features the Iams Homestead Museum, the Olde Town Train Depot and a picturesque bikeway.
