"For me, public service reflects what you put into it," City Council Member Staggs says. "In recent times time we've seen a major increase in community participation by going further to get our residents and staff much more involved in the actual decision-making. In my experience this leads to greater feelings of pride and accomplishment."

For instance, with the Salem Mall's redevelopment it took a long time to get the feeling of going forward since until recently we had no real control. Now we can help preserve our good memories of it by building something that will once again make Trotwood a destination point."
