Councilwoman Bettye L. Gales, At Large
Newly elected Member Bettye L. Gales began her first term on Trotwood City Council on January 1, 2008. She and husband Waverly, who goes by 'Mike', have two children, Michael and Michele, and six grandchildren. Since 2006 Ms. Gales has been teaching as an Intervention Specialist for the Trotwood-Madison City Schools, where she previously served as a substitute teacher from 1996-2000.
Recently she completed her Master’s level Teacher Licensure in K-12 Special Education at Antioch McGregor University. Before that she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Park University in Parkville, Missouri.
Says Gales, “As a teacher in the Trotwood-Madison City
School District I’ve been able to bring my own education to bear in helping our community’s more challenged students, especially with reading. As a citizen I’m proud to be increasing my community involvement through this very important position of helping govern our community.”
Before going full time as a Trotwood teacher, Bettye also taught as a Title I Reading Tutor for the Dayton City Schools from 2000 to 2006. Prior to that she worked as a Program Manager/Security Manager for the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she helped decrease security incidents by 95%.
