02.08.11- City Adds New Red Light Camera
As part of the expansion of the City’s Red Light and Speed enforcement program known as ‘Trotwood Safe Streets’, the first of 7 additional camera systems approved last year by City Council will go into full service on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011.
One additional camera has been added to the Westbound lanes of Free Pike at S.R. 49. Motorists associated with violations along that approach will receive a warning letter between now and March 2nd 2011. Starting March 3rd the system will be issuing regular citations.
There are already two cameras there for Eastbound and Southbound Traffic. This and other locations in the city were chosen for their high rate of crashes associated with the intersections.
National studies have shown that photo enforcement systems installed in communities have contributed to a significant reduction in crashes and fatalities in those communities.
Motorists with questions about the system please contact the Trotwood Police Safe Streets Coordinator at (937) 854-7231.
