10.06.09- Road & Service Levies On The Ballot
A major City Council priority is maintaining the community’s roadways. Good roads ensure safe travel for emergency vehicles and citizens while helping preserve property values and attract development projects. Public Works handles pothole patching, crack sealing, and other ongoing repairs for Trotwood’s nearly 400 lane miles of roadway. But these roads are deteriorating rapidly. Years of inflation and skyrocketing fuel costs have driven vehicle operation and paving materials costs through the roof. And because of the national economic downturn, the City’s current financial condition is seriously endangering its ability to pay its roadway workers.
That's why on November 3rd the City will ask voters to approve a 1.00 mill, five (5) year levy for the construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of Trotwood’s streets, roads, and bridges. Voters will also be asked to approve a five (5) year, 1.00 mill levy to pay for City service department workers’ expenses. For a home appraised at $75,000 each levy would cost only an estimated $23 per year. Passage of both will keep the City’s hardworking road crews on the job, keeping the community's roadways safe.
