11.05.09- Voters Approve 3 of 4 City Levies

On November 3rd, Trotwood voters approved three of four levies directly related to preserving essential public services that the City of Trotwood had placed on the 2009 ballot.

For the City’s Fire & Rescue Division, voters saw fit to approve: a 2.00 mill, five (5) year renewal levy for personnel costs; as well as a new a five (5) year, 2.00 mill levy for replacing and maintaining the City’s Emergency Medical Services apparatus and equipment.

For the City’s Public Works Department, voters approved a 1.00 mill, five (5) year levy for the construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets, roads and bridges; but did not approve a second five (5) year, 1.00 mill levy to pay service department workers’ expenses.

Says Trotwood City Manager Michael J. Lucking, “On behalf of our Trotwood Mayor and City Council, directors and staff, I want to express our sincere gratitude to the citizens of Trotwood for having the wisdom and foresight to approve these levies that will definitely help us maintain the efficient delivery of essential public safety services this great community of ours so clearly deserves.

Although one of the two Public Works levies did not pass, we promise to do our utmost in maintaining our roadways to the best of our ability during these very challenging economic times.”

Continues Lucking, " When asked, our community stood up, came forward and answered the call to help us secure this much-needed assistance. For that, everyone here at the City of Trotwood is truly grateful.”
