04.07.11- City Levy Renewal (Issue 11) on the 05/03 Ballot
Over time, the community has grown to depend on the superior services the City provides. On Tuesday, May 3rd Trotwood citizens will be asked to vote on Issue 11, the City’s 5.75 mill, 5-year Levy Renewal. Issue 11 means no tax increase. But since it amounts to nearly 20% of the City’s General Operating Budget, it is crucial that it pass. So that the essential City services – including Police, Fire & Rescue and Public Works – can still be delivered in the ways citizens have learned to rely on and expect.
“Our City Council and staff work very hard to deliver the excellent services our citizens deserve, despite the bad economy,” said Mayor Joyce S. Cameron. “That’s why it’s vital for every resident in our community to support Issue 11. It absolutely must be passed.”
If Issue 11 does not pass, service reductions are inevitable. Resulting cuts could include: loss of 7 full-time Police staff, less Police visibility and slower Police response times; closing of at least 1 Firehouse, loss of 4 full-time and 4 part-time Firefighter/Paramedics and slower Fire/EMS response times; and loss of staff and programs in all City departments.
