03.04.10- City Seeks New City Council Member
The City is seeking a new City Council Member for its Ward 1 district, and is accepting applications now through Friday, March 26, 2010. Effective March 1st, 2010, City Council accepted the resignation of its previous Mayor, and that same day former Vice-Mayor Joyce Cameron was sworn in as Trotwood’s new Mayor, accoring to the process set forth in Section 3-7 of the City Charter.The Vice-Mayor becoming Mayor leaves a vacancy in the Ward 1 Council seat. According to Section 3-3 of the City Charter to the City Charter, vacancies in the office of council member shall be filled within sixty days by the vote of a majority of the remaining council members, by the selection of a person qualified. In accordance with Section 3-3, Qualifications: ‘Councilmen shall be qualified electors of the Municipality, residents of the Municipality for one year, and if elected by district, a resident at the time of filing his nominating petition of the district to be represented’.

Anyone living there and interested in applying for the Ward 1 Council Member vacancy can download the Board Volunteer Application, scan and e-mail the application to lsingleton@trotwood.org, or fax it to (937) 854-0574 to the Clerk of Council’s attention. Applications may also picked up at the Trotwood Government Center, 2nd Floor, 3035 Olive Road.
