Devoted to youth advocacy, Green established the A.C. Green Youth Foundation in 1989. Through his speaking engagements he encourages teens and young adults to fulfill their potential by tenaciously pursuing their dreams in accordance with their gifts and talents.
The Foundation’s “I've Got the Power” and “Game Plan” curriculum, videos, leadership camps, and website help young people build self-esteem and character, and learn moral and ethical principles which help them make responsible decisions.
Pastor Jimmy Washington of Phillips Temple Church is pleased A.C. will be traveling to the Miami Valley and invites residents to attend this public program. "A.C. Green's life and message will be a source of strength and encouragement for all", Washington stated.

Green will be speaking again that evening prior to the Dayton Gems’ game against Wichita at 7:30 p.m. at Hara Arena. The 3-time NBA Champion and founder of the A.C. Green Youth Foundation will address self-esteem and character, and how these traits and behaviors can help young people achieve their goals. Green’s speech will highlight the hockey team's “Faith and Family” night theme for the evening.
A ceremonial puck drop by Green will then kick off the game.
Off the basketball court, Green has a warm heart that is dedicated to working with youth. In 1989, Green established the A.C. Green Youth Foundation with a primary focus advocating positive outcomes for underprivileged teens and young adults. Through his “I've Got the Power” and “Game Plan” curriculum, videos, leadership camps, and website, Green’s mission is to help young people build self-esteem and character – and learn moral and ethical principles which will help them make responsible decisions.
Throughout the 20 years the foundation has been in existence, Green has seen family, friends, and complete strangers go out of their way to contribute to the foundation and make it a success. He estimates he has impacted the lives of 10 million youth and young adults.
“Without the help of everyone involved, this foundation would have never made it past year two,” said Green. “It’s no secret that a lot of people have had a tough time with the economy recently, but people are still making sacrifices and contributing in any way they can. For those sacrifices to help make the foundation a success, I am very thankful."

During his 16-season career, Green played for five NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers. He played in 1,192 consecutive games from 1987-2001, earning Green the title of “Iron Man.” His consecutive game streak is the longest in NBA history. Green became a 3-time NBA Champion with the Lakers, winning back-to-back championships in 1987 and 1988, and his final championship in 2000. Following the 2000 season, Green went to the Miami Heat and retired at the end of the season.
A.C. Green is a role model that youth across America can respect. He was covered in the House of Representatives' Congressional Record of October 26, 1999; and recognized by President George Bush when A.C. attended a ceremony in the Oval Room during Black History Month in 2006. In the course of his business ventures and community service, A.C. has made speaking appearances across the world, in countries such as China, India, Mexico, Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
